On the highway today, my 89 mi16 with orig. size tires/wheels shows a little
under 3500 rpm at an indicated 75 mph. It doesn't feel loud or like it's
working hard until it gets up to about 4k rpm. I believe my speedo is about
4-5 mph optimistic. Does this all sound "normal"?
And on another subject, on a hot day running it somewhat hard, my oil temp
shows a little over the 1st line to the right of the 190 line- I guess about
225-230 degrees. Should I be concerned with this?

I'm running the stock 195/60R14s on an 89 Mi16 and the speedo is reading way
too high
over 10% too high
The normal Mi16 usually reads high with stock tires and I like the look of
a 195/65 or a 205/60
much better fit in the wheel well especially at the rear plus the speedo is
more accurate

Its funny, I also have a MI16 and a 405S (manual). Both are '89's. I've
had the 405 about 11 years and the MI16 about 6 months. What you report
about
the RPM's is exactly what I note -- the MI16 runs about 4000 while the S
about 3000+, But the MI16 has lots in reserve. I recently replaced all of
the
bushings in the MI16 and it made a big difference on the ride. I can't
comment
on the noise... althought the MI16 definitly runs louder.
