I am very happy you got it all sorted out. I too had my problems with
Kugelfischer with my 72 XN2 coupe but it runs like a charm now. It was a
tad rich after I sorted it out, but I then flow improved the head and
converted it for unleaded and the extra fuel came in handy; it now pulls
hard all the way to 6500 rpm's with BP 100 RON. Regarding the hot restart
problems, they are more a function of the electrovalve than the pump. As
soon as you turn on the ignition it squirts extra fuel and if it is already
warmed up the engine gets flooded. The solution is quite easy: install a
kill switch for the electrovalve and deactivate it during re-starts. It is
quick, VERY effective and inexpensive.

Subject: [Peugeot-L] 504 injection : replacement fuel pump
Hi there,
I am just done with the painfull exercice of getting my 2-Liter
injection Peugeot 504 Cabriolet to run perfectly.
- There is a climate of secrecy about where to find a workshop that
can service the (fragile) Kuggelfischer injection pump. I ended up to
get it replaced by a fully refurbished pump through a former Peugeot
branch owner in Belgium. Ouch, for the budget!
- Be very careful with second hand replacement parts. In particular,
for the electric fuel pump (located in the back near the fuel tank) I
experienced the same as Graham back 6 months ago
(http://www.vectorbd
<http://www.vectorbd.com/peugeot/archive/504/2005/Sep/0026.html>
.com/peugeot/archive/504/2005/Sep/0026.html).
Interestingly enough, with the same guy (Kurt Orbie in Belgium), I
tried 2 different of his spare units. There were both leaking like
hell. Even the guy did not admit something was wrong (a working pump
not only runs electrially, it should not leak and bring up enough
pressure...) and that his parts were just crap. Worrying is that he
was probably going to sell them to someone else... :-(
So I won't comment any further on how reliable this source for used
parts is...
- After all, an electric pump is just a pump with basic
specifications (max pressure at zero flow, nominal pressure at
nominal flow and max flow at zero pressure). I have tried several
equivalents and it seems I found one which appear to be OK to
complement or even replace an old aging original pump. Good news, it
sells for less than 100 Euros in a good auto-part shop. I will send
full technical info to those who are interested.
Other than that, I am so happy to finally enjoy my 504 with no more
hot restart problem (no more 30 minutes wait during a club rally...)
Cheers!
