[Peugeot-L] 505 87 Door lock swap?

From: N9TE <Fujitsu_at_turbo505.com>

Hi all,

Sticky door lock cylinder on my 87S. (VIN 417362)

Symptoms: Won't turn. Stuck. Turns 1mm and stops. Sometimes it can be muscled. Other times it works perfectly. Repeatability: In summertime 30% of the time, wintertime 70%. My suspicion: sticky pin or something.
Key: Stainless. Bought on eBay from that guy in Australia. Exact symptoms on older key (one generation back)

Took the lock cylinder out and took it to a locksmith. He said it's a "non-serviceable" part.

  1. Is he full of crap?

1a. If YES. Can it be disassembled and cleaned up? Any recommendations on someone you KNOW does this?

1b. If NO. Can I swap the right and left locks? There are no wires or switches that connect to the lock. The power locks seem to be actuated at the driver's actuator level. I nearly never use the key to go into the passenger's side. If I could swap them, I would be good to go.

Thanks,
