Re: [Peugeot-L] Peugeot's legendary ride?

My '71 and '74 504's with the simple chrome bumpers had a really good ride, best ride of any cars I've ever owned. I remember that when Road & Track tested the 504 in '70, they said it actually rode better than big American sedans that specialized in a smooth ride. My '78 504 with impact-absorbing bumpers rode well, but not as well as the other two. I mention the bumpers because my theory is that when they went to the heavier bumpers, they stiffened the suspension to take the weight. If I'm wrong on this point, I'm sure someone will straighten me out! Of course, finding an early 504 in good shape could be a challenge these days.
