Also, If you are doing the struts, note that the gas shocks that are listed for the rear of the 504 by at least one aftermarket brand will physically fit, however they do not provide sufficient damping for the car (actually feels like they provide none!). I took that set back after fitting, and swapped them for heavy duty oil shocks.

you should probably change suspension bushes too. Note that the polyurethane bushes may be resistant to oil (which is common to find all over them on old cars) however they will make the ride much harsher. Best to go with oem rubber bushes.

Best suspension test I have is find a set of the large judder bars (speed humps), the ones that are about a metre across. Best speed in a real car (ie a Peugeot) is anything over 70 km/h :)
