Best seats I've ever tried, hands down, were those of a new-style Saab 9000. The Swedes really excel at this. I know that Volvo uses orthopedic surgeons to design their seats, and I would be shocked if Saab didn't do the same.

Of course most Volvo won't ride as smoothly as a Peugeot, and the ones that do are going to be a bit pricier than the Pugs (88-90 760 sedan, 92-98 960 sedan, 95-98 960 wagon). The four wheel independent suspension with self-leveling doodads is pretty cushy.

But... I still prefer the Peugeot ride.

I've never tried one of those fancy schmancy Citroens with the hydraulic suspension, but I suppose that wouldn't be half bad.

Also on the list of stuff to consider might be a later Infinity Q45 w/ the (semi) active suspension. Altho, I'm not really a fan of Japanese seats (except as forms of torture).

As for lower profile tires may increase ride harshness, but within the range that you'd be running on a Peugeot, I'd be more concerned about tread compound and sidewall construction. Within a given size, there's a large variation in ride across the available models.
