It's been a long time since I was a Peugeot
mechanic,
but I remember alot of guys had problems with
setting
up those carbs; but I found that if you used the
fac-
tory procedures, they worked perfectly. The one cav-
veat was the wax capsule device that they used as an
automatic choke. They went bad alot; and if you did
not replace them, they would cause all kinds of
prob-
blems. The other thing I would tell you is to make
sure all the cleaning really opened up the idle passages
as sometimes you just can't get a carb totally
clean. Also, with the changes in idle, it sounds
like
a vacuum leak-you need to check carb base gaskets
and if the carbs are old they might even be worn at
the spindles. With the engine running and the air
cleaner off, spray around the carbs and intake manfold
with carb cleaner or brake cleaner; and if you
notice a difference in the idle, then you have found
your leak at the spot you sprayed that caused the
change in idle.
Good luck!
