Hi, all!

I have been, quietly, enjoying (leaching off) this list for about three years, now, having owned several Peug's over the years, and loving anyone who had a story about, or anything to do with a Peugeot. And, it is with great regret, that I am now, sadly, in the position of having to sell my only remaining baby, and my original Peug, a 1976 Gas Auto 504. I have owned her for the last, approximately, 20 years, along with my, recently, deceased husband.

When I first met him, he was in the habit of buying a different "new" classic car, about every 6 months. We were looking for a car for my mother, and took some other 504 out on a weekend trial; fell in love (with him and Peugeot, at the same time!); had an Epiphany and (with the exception of a few moments of "backsliding"; inappropriate affairs with a couple of strays, like an old Volvo; an MGB GT; and a Jensen-Healey convertible - he finally went through "withdrawal", and into "detox" and learned his "roaming" lesson), we totally "converted" to Peugeot. We immediately began shopping for our first 504, and bought this car. I was her 2nd owner. The first was a Mercedes Dealer mechanic, who, still, prefered her to any great employee's deal he could get on a mercedes, but who had to, finally, succumb to pressure, and sell her, when it became politically incorrect for him to drive his Peugot to work - his boss gave him an ultimatum; your car or your job (not sure if I could have made the same decision)! We, later, added to our family, adopting some younger and older siblings (one 404, and a couple of 505's), and even converting my parents to a 504, as well, before my husband passed away. It is very hard for me to sell her - lots of memories, as you can imagine! I thought I had myself psyched up, but, even thought she's been resting for a while, now, and a bit dirty, all I had to do was open the door and sit in her driver's seat, again, and her beauty and strength, and all our escapades together, came immediatly back to me, and I just went "Aaaaahhhhh!!! - How can I possibly give you up?" (I feel like I'm giving him up, again, along with her!)

But, I have no other choice - she is, at this point, a project car, and my husband's passing has left me unable to take care of her, as she deserves. She has good features, as well as, features that need work. You should have seen her, in her "prime" (I am looking for her "baby-pics"!).

As, my cyber-'voice" is starting to get all choked-up, now, I'm going to sign-off. If any of you are interested, please contact me, and I can go into more detail with you.. (She is located in Southern California.)

Sniffle, sniffle.....,

Madelaine

P.S. Wouldn't mind, even, just "commiserating" with any other former 504 owners, who have also "loved-and-lost" I don't suppose there any "Grievance Groups" for Peug-owners, are there (other than, of course, the comfort of this list)?
