I fixed the mechanical injection pump of my 1973 504 coupe with the
Kugelfisher injection. In desperation I took apart the parts they say
you should never disassemble and found a smashed O-ring in the system
connecting the pneumatic valve to the plenum chamber. I replaced it
and the car runs like a top now, emissions are acceptable. YES!!!! I
have caught rallye car fever again and I want the 4-door 1971 504 I am
building to show these old BMW's and 911's hill climbers a thing or
two. Suspension, transmission/diff and brakes plans have been made,
working on engine concept now. A friend who is aware of my addiction
called and said he has located a ZDJL motor (actually, it comes with a
505) in excellent condition. My latest question: Can I use the block
from the 2.2 liter ZDJL with the head and injection system of the XN2
or the head and carbs of the XN1? I must not alter the appearence of
the original 504 motors.
