Mike,
The latch is an easy fix. Go down to the hardware or plumbing supply store and get
a roll of hanging strap, it's about 1/2 wide, and has holes in it.
Cut off a small piece, and shape it into a U shape. You need to kinda eyeball where
it should go, to match where the old one was. Then drill a hole in the metal frame
above it, and attach it with a metal screw. Then you can bend it to adjust it if you
need to, so that it closes normally. I guess it doesn't look pretty, but it's only visible
with the glove box open, and it works.
