I am in the process of pulling the XD2S engine from a newly acquired
85 505S TD wagon with a cracked head and replacing it with an XD3T
engine from an 85 505S automatic sedan (bought the car from Kevin
Rhodes). Per Frank Bowman, Peugeot mechanic extraordinaire, the pipe
from the front muffler of the 505 TD wagon should bolt right up to the
turbo of the XD3T.
Are there anything else that I should be aware of in the engine swap?
Any gotya's that I should know?
What else should I do to the XD3T engine before I put it in? It ran
well when I drove it home 3? years ago. I want a leak free engine.
What's the best way to get a leak free oil pan? I am thinking of using
the "Right stuff" from Permatex, without a gasket. Anyone with
experience with it? I heard great things about it but have no personal
experience.
How about the rear main seal? What is the best way to insure there
will be no leak there without splitting the crankcase?
