  1. Sounds like the secondary carb isn't working or hardly working at all. I'd make sure you have functionality first. They can be nasty to get right - but when you do the car is fairly peppy. Pulling the choke is essentially enriching the mixture so your definitely lacking fuel. (It must really be dogging it if pulling the choke halfway makes it faster!)
  2. Could be the wheel, ball joint, or the tie rod. I don't have any special tools and have been able to do all the work with "make do" tools when needed. Call around to see if any tire shops have wheel balancers that work with the tire on the car. It's rare - but some shops still have them. Other than that - I've only ever seen manual tire balancers at Princess auto here in Canada for farm equipment tires. I've heard they're fairly accurate - never tried them though.
  3. You'll get significant performance gains by going to the 86+ 505 XN6 manifold. Does away with all the pollution crap on the exhaust manifold, and is a nice dual outlet design. Can't remember if you'll need to replace the studs to make them shorter or not - don't think so...

Not sure of regulations in CA - so hopefully getting rid of some of the troublesome stuff isn't illegal. Is it OK on such old cars?
