That single problem you refer to is probably corroded
battery terminals. Usually, when an electric problem
affects so many consumers, it is an easy problem.
Also,
jumping did no good as if there was no connection
between the battery terminals and the cable ends. I
would take the negative and positive cables(negative
first)off of the battery and thoroughly clean both the
battery terminals and the inside cable ends(wire
brushes and sandpaper work well) and then reassemble
in reverse order(negative last).Use something to
prevent
corrosion like special battery protective sprays or
even grease. You should keep your battery on a trickle
charge when laid up for so long as they're supposed to
go through a charge cycle every 24 hrs.; and if they
don't, they can sulfate, which could also be your
problem. If that's the case, you'll need a new
battery.
If the cleaning doesn't work, bring the battery
somewhere you trust to have them check out the
battery.
If it is bad, and you're not planning on using the car
for awhile, then I would wait to buy the new battery.
But remember, you don't want to leave fuel in it for
too long; and it's not good for alot of things on the
car to not be used regularly.
