[Peugeot-L] '85 505 TD for sale

OK, folks. Here's the particulars:

car is in Columbus, TX (about halfway between Houston and San Antonio on I10) This was, up until now, a daily driver for a 80 mile per day round trip commute.

The car has 144k miles. No crash damage. The car has been through a large hail storm so the roof has some dents. The sun roof is sealed shut.

The bad stuff:

It uses about a half gallon of coolant every 400 miles (none in oil). I suspect head or head gasket.

It has a broken stud in the head for the exhaust manifold. I have new studs and gaskets.

I think the steering rack is growing some slop.

The wiper switch has problems. It works when you manually pull it. The switch mechanism is jammed and needs to be lubed, freed or replaced.

It has the usual Peugeot start switch problem. I put in a relay that worked fine except that there was a backfeed that would bring on the starter when you put it in gear. I left the relay in and changed the wiring so you just manually push the relay to start the car when this problem occurs. I was going to wire in a selector switch or a momentary push button but haven't got one of them round-to-its.

There is an intermittent leak of brake fluid. Don't know why.

The good stuff:

It uses no oil between changes. (every 3000)

It gets between 27 and 30 MPG.

It has a re-sealed injector pump that I paid $400.00 to have done.

It has a new master cylinder.

The radiator has been flow tested and is sound.

It has new front brake pads.

It has 1 new wiper arm and new blades.

The transmission is sound.

It has all new water hoses (not all are installed).

I have 3 new oil filters.

I have new steering rack boots.

I have a new trinary switch (not installed)

The indifferent stuff:

The front Michelins have 6/32" of tread, the rears have 3/32".

I have modified a Ford vacuum pump to fit the engine.

The fan bearings gave up so I removed the assy. and added thermostatically operated electric fan.

That's all I can think of for now.

If you have any more questions, fire away. I have pictures that I can send.

I really hate to sell this car as it is the best driving vehicle that I have ever owned (including my motorcycles).

Make offer.
