Hey folks I have a 1982 604 TD for sale.
Body is excellent with a few tiny rust spots and bubbles.
It has spent most of its life in the hands of its second owner, I am
the third.
I bought it to see if I would enjoy the home made WVO/BD thing and I
love it so I am going to upgrade by buying a new volkswagon or
importing a mini diesel.
Its a little extra work but we have a great set up now with our WVO
collection and processing. I cant imagine paying for fuel again.
Ok good and bad.
Front seat has a tear but the rest of the interior is in good shape
for the age.
The starter motor is not working well and i sometimes have to start
the car by connecting the positive terminal to the starter motor. This
seems to happen a lot when its hot. If you can do basic wiring you can
build a push button starter for the car.
I got the back brakes done a month ago but i think the front brakes
need servicing. I had all the fluids changed, new ball joint and tie
rod, turbo fixed.
No AC. Spedometer does not work.
Trunk doesnt lock and back left window does not go down.
I think thats about it. I would call it a project but it is ready to
go as a daily driver. I just got back from las vegas to LA yesterday
and have driven from LA to joshua tree twice. The engine gets pretty
hot but I was driving in 96 degree heat and did not overheat but it
was close when going up big hills.
You almost never see these in drivable condition so I will not be in a
huge hurry to sell it as I will wait for it to go at the right price
to the right person. I hope someone will want it to restore it.
