Hi Group,
the 505 V6 over here is allowed to tow about 1400 kg at a "braked"
trailer, not really much in compare to 1900 kg at a 604 GTI Aut. :-(.
Be careful if you´re offered any trailer-hitch for the 505: In the
after-market they often tell that they are suitable for the Pase I and
II - but they don´t ! At the 505 TILL 1985 the hitch is posited directly
under the rear bumper and at the 505 UP FROM 1985 it´s completely HIDDEN
behind the bumper and you have to cut out a half-round hole from the
rear deflector under the bumper.

The 505 was sold with a towing set up as an option. To describe very
loosely, it had mounting points fore and aft and a 'frame" which
wrapped around the spare tire, so one could still have the spare tire
set up as designed. I do not know what the capacity of the frame is,
properly mounted. It sure seems strong, and I used to tow a boat with
one. It was an earlier v6. I kept the last one I had when that
particular 505 went to the great Pug lot in the sky.
