Re: [Peugeot-L] '89 Mi16 AC Problems

I had the same problem on my MI16 - 1989.  It would jolt, and also the idle would cycle way up and down. It would only stop if I turned the engine off.  My mechanic knew about this problem. He said it was the temperature control that was wired to the idle... when the A/C goes on, and it needs more power, the idle goes up. He rewired everything to by-pass this so now it the A/C is either ON or OFF and I regulate the fan for how cold I want it. Works fine. I hope this is enough information -- Sorry I can't be specific on what he did.  Peter

 Subject: [Peugeot-L] '89 Mi16 AC Problems

     Hello,
I've had problems with the AC since I bought the car three years ago:  the AC worked OK, but when it cycled on and off, it jolted the car. It  didn't just knock down the idle: it was a jolt.  I installed, this year, a new compressor, a new receiver/drier, a new  expansion valve, a new trinary valve, and of course went over to 134a.  After that ordeal we had the same symptoms.  Saturday we flushed the condenser and the evaporator core. Now, the  system works great, it's extremely cold, but it still jolts the same,  and, now, the system won't shut off, either with the on/off button, or  thermostatically.
When I turn off the engine, and the switch is on, the engine turns  off, but everything else is still running (accessories...)  I'm pretty sure the high side is running around 250 lbs.  Does anyone have any ideas?
 Thank you.
