Adding an real boost gauge is money well spent.
I put mine at the bottom of the front pillar, right near the tweeter.
I simply ran my vacuum hose thru the hole in the firewall underneath the
fuse box. I fished it through and ran it up.
I bought a boost gauge from Summit Racing. You want one with a damper.
The one I paid about $30 from Summit melted inside when I let it stay in the sun too
long. Now I know to cover it before it bakes if the car is going to setting in the sun.
When the gauge went, I was worried that there was something serious wrong with the
engine, like a plugged converter or something, as the engine vacuum readings were
whacked. I was relieved when I switched the gauge with another one I had, and the
readings were normal again.
