Wow, Marty! Hello old friend.
I was going to suggest something along the same lines, but my suggestion involved
cleaning and reseating as many connections under the hood that can be found. At the very
least, the engine management ones. After 20 years or so, it just makes sense.
I did it after losing power one day , and drifting to the side of the road. I found an
intermittent contact at the ignition relay, and was on my way right away. That was a good
day. A bit unnerving at first, but good.
It makes sense to eliminate the simple stuff first. Pain, yes. Payoff- probably to most
likely. Probably the biggest pain is the dinky can of contact cleaner for $12. It's like
buying Scotch, fer the sake of Pete!
I have a teenie thin narrow file that roughs up the female leads inside. I had to make my
own on a grinder.
The only downsides that I see is time, and, of course, one would never know what
problems were averted.
That's my shot in the dark.
