[Peugeot-L] Peugeot 604 - Starter motor & alternator compatibility

Hi all.

I just got an '82 604 SL v6 and I am working on my starter and altenator.

  1. The original Ducellier 6238 motor starter is too weak to crank the car, so I bought a bosch version intended for volvo 264 since the share the same PRV engine platform. I add a relay to the ignition switch to have enough charge to crank the motor. It works fine.. until the engine reach the working temperature. If I switch off the igniton, I just won't start until half an hour or more. When its cooler it cranks again as if nothing happened. Wiring is Ok, I have it wired as drawn like in the 604 workshop manual. Is the bosch starter incompatible with the original Ducellier?
  2. My pug's 70 amp alternator have charging problems. It hat a cut out module and when the car runs, the battery went dead after an hour drive. Ok, I know.. bad alt. A friend of mine lent me a pug 405 alternator with built in voltage regulator IC. My question is, what is the output of a 405 alt? Appreciate for help.

Thanks,

Nelson Fabian D
