I believe there's a drain/petcock in the radiator. I have always have at least moderately good luck using the method in the Haynes manual or something like it for refilling. There's a relief hole at the radiator cap for when it's overfilled, so don't go panicing looking for a leak if you see coolant on the ground. Personally, I'd check for circulation, viz., the hoses from the thermostat housing and wouldn't be afraid to check the condition of the thermostat. And the recommendation to change the timing belt is absolutely 100% correct. Unless you can find a receipt for the work having been done, I wouldn't take any chances, wouldn't even drive the car. It would also be a great time to change the water pump. I have an '89 with 106K on the original engine. There are hardly any oil leaks, doesn't burn oil, it's a great engine, and to snap a TB would cause immeasurable misery. Bill

Drain?? Good question! Can't recall, would have to check the book.   As for level, if you look down the filler neck/header tank you will   see a level indicator inside, fill to that level. I think it is a   couple inches (2-3"??) below the cap.
