Car crush Mark takes lead from The Simpsons
A JINXED new car which has been repaired over 30 times will make one
final journey back to the dealer.
Mark Fell-Crook plans to take a unique form of revenge on Peugeot by
crushing his £16,000 307 into a cube and returning it, after three-
-a-half years of misery.
The frustrated Prestatyn man hopes to raise enough money from the
stunt to buy a new motor. He has even set up a website,
www.crushmy307.co.uk, and promises to give any extra money raised to
charity.
Mr Fell-Crook, 29, claims he had problems with the car on the same
day he bought it, in September 2002. Since then he has been to the
Peugeot dealer, in Mochdre, on more than 30 occasions in 46 months.
Errors have included failing brakes and loss of power when on a
motorway.
But the final straw came when the exhaust fell off- despite the 52-
plate Peugeot having just 26,000 miles on the clock.
He said: ""After that, I'd had enough and decided to do something
about it.
"I was at the end of my tether and I just wanted to get my own back
on Peugeot."
The inspiration for the crush came from an episode of the Simpsons,
in which Homer's evil boss, millionaire Montgomery Burns, has his car
crushed into a cube.
The website has received in excess of 77,000 hits, after appearing in
a cult online newsletter, and has raised £379 towards his target
figure of £13,999. It also offers the opportunity to donate straight
to Cancer Research from www.crushmy307.co.uk. Fell-Crook chose the
charity because his mother was claimed by cancer when he was 17.
A spokesperson for Peugeot said: "When it became clear that Mr Fell-
was so unhappy with his vehicle that he wished to exchange it,
his dealer made a number of offers to help, including part exchanges
at favourable rates.
"However, Mr Fell-Crook has rejected these offers as he feels that he
is entitled to a brand new replacement vehicle of identical
specification at no cost to himself after almost four years of
motoring.
"As far as we are aware there are no issues outstanding with this
vehicle."
