First of all, Peugeot purposely designs their head
gasket on the diesel engine to be the weakest link;
so that if there is a problem, it will be the
cheapest
thing to repair. This comes straight from Peugeot
reps when I was at the dealership. As a matter of
fact, most cars don't crack heads that easily. When
you do this professionally for awhile, you learn that
most problems are simple. Peugeot diesel heads do
develop cracks between the valve seats; but they
cause
no problems and can be welded up at a machine shop.
The best product for sealing any internal cracks or
leaking head gaskets is without a doubt K&W block
seal, and it's under $20.00 a can. The process is a
little tedious, but not beyond the scope of almost
anyone. You'll also need flush and coolant. Does it
work? I had a Mercedes mechanic friend use it to seal
a cracked diesel block, and it had lasted 5yrs. the
last time I had known about it. I've personally used
it on BMWs and Japanese cars with no problem. It
lasts
perfectly well and works great if you do it correctly
and DON'T overheat it again.
