I thought you could still bring a car in as a track car. Giving up the Vin number and stating that it will be trailered to the track and only used as a race car.
Then if it happens to get test driven with a Lic plate of a similar make of car oh well. Yes I know its way in the grey area. But I ve seen it done with some Apha's and BMWs.

However, there are number of late model grey market cars going
around in US. Unmodified late models registered in US and owned by
US citizens. Obviously there were some back doors that allowed these
cars in but I heard that after the 9/11 most of these doors got
closed by tightening the border.
