there is nothing better than the Snap-On 8 mm or 5/16" square male on
a 3/8 female drive
Put it on a 3/8 Johnson bar or flex handle for most plugs or on a 1/2 dr bar with a
3/8 to 1/2 adaptor for the really tough stuff

I have found the official wrench to be totally useless. It appears to
be specifically designed to slip and destroy knuckles. The Snap-on or
MAC 8mm square end, 3/8 drive socket is about an inch long and, with a
1/2 to 3/8 drive converter attached, will easily remove drain plugs
installed by King Kong.
