John,
Yes, there is a brake light switch that is probably
your culprit. Most cars have them mounted on the
brake pedal lever arm and they're usually easy to
change. Some weird cars had a pressure switch in the
hydraulic circuit; but if I remember correctly, the
505 was on the brake pedal arm.
