[Peugeot-L] Re: 504 light question

Hi Robert,

OK, the outer low beam lights have 3 conductors - ground, high beam filament and low beam filament.
The inner high beam lights have only 2 conductors - ground and high beam filament.

The lows (3 prongs) have a low wattage filament for low beam, I believe the high wattage filament (2 prongs) is the same in low or high sealbeams.

Make sense?

get yourself a test light and figure out which side of the socket is hot when the lows are on, which is hot when the highs are on. then cut and splice the wires (use solder and shrink tubing) to match the seal beams you have.

BUT -

  1. you're doing a weird mod that messes with the originality of the car
  2. the outer light will still be a High Beam High Wattage filament , even though the switch might only be in low beam position. You're still risking getting pulled over and blinding oncoming traffic.

The lights in my Citroen are Euro lights and they take a replaceable bulb. They're not sealed beams like in the USA 504. The yellow bulbs came with it. I have seen the yellow sealbeams (used only as highs) in some old muscle cars and slammed BMW's but I don't know where you would buy these. Try Disortex, they sell Hella products and may know .

Good luck!
