If the conductor (copper) in the new cable has the same or greater cross sectional area as the cable you are replacing, all is fine.

If the conductor in the new cable has a smaller cross sectional area, one of three things may happen;
* When cranking the engine, the new wire does an impression of fuse wire under load.
* Engine will crank slower than previously - not really a problem until the battery starts to die and you need everything the battery has to make the engine turn.
* Nothing at all, the cable is capable of carrying suitable current without any problems.
