Back that statement up. From where I'm sitting, TTY seems like a good
idea, allowing for more accurate, consistant torque values to be
applied.

~160 w/o turbo, ~270hp at 7psi, first run. 2.3L four banger.
First run, 7psi just bolted together:

Latest run. Upon re-reading the thread, more boost, I'd venture to
say maybe 10-12psi:

There's the engine (Volvo B230 + 16 valve B234 head):

List of modifications required to get to that point:

Stock Volvo spec head gasket (actually aftermarket Elring, the OEM of
the Volvo gaskets, set). Stock Volvo TTY head bolts.

So they use what are sometimes called "inhex" heads? Doesn't seem
terribly exotic to me.

Look. You spew out vague bullshit, I'll call you on it. "They're not
accurate enough" means zero in the context of head bolts. Zero.
Saying "Thread depth, overall length & nut clearances on bosses" was
machined incorrectly is significant. Sounds like someone screwed up
and gave ARP the wrong dimensions.
There are many reasons why the studs you could pick up at your local
hardware store probably won't work well as head studs (not the least
of which is that your local ACE hardware will likely not stock metric
studs of any sort). The dimensions would be the least of my concerns.
Chances are the metallurgy is all wrong for this application.
Of course with any one off product, you'd want to check it to make
sure it's similar enough to the stock product to function... on an N9T
I'd probably be more concerned with keeping the head in one piece than
the head gasket.
