Is it worth it?
OnYes.... Yes it is. :)
Is it for everyone? No.
I find anything worth keeping is bound to take extra care, more work, and cost more money - but the pay off in the end is fantastic.
Turbos do cost a bit of money - but it's a wear item that can compare with many other wear items. I can rebuild my turbo for $300 or less and it's easy as pie to do as long as you get it before mechanical damage occurs. (IE worn bearings causing out of spec play.)
They do take more care - but I think for the money that we can buy these cars for, and the quality of the drive we get for the dollar we spend - I'll gladly throw a few grand at a car that will shame cars 10x the money I've spend. (I do it all the time... :)
