Joe,
I think you found your problem; and yes, it will lean
it out.Your problem is probably just this and not the
plugs as those carboard tubes won't come into play
with new wires, but they're a good secondary defence
when the plugs or plug wires get older. I've seen
alot of them missing with no adverse effect. If you
can find the specs for the air corrector jet, you can
solder up the existing jet; and then drill it out to
the correct size. If your main jet is different than
the specs, you could do the same with it; or if it's
too small, just drill it. If the different main jet
is there for a reason, then the general rule is to
increase or decrease the air corrector jet 3 sizes
for every 1 size of main jet. For example, if you had
a 135 main jet and increased it to 140, then you
would
increase that 170 air corrector jet to a 185.
Good luck! Let us know how it works out, and I would
like to know what kind of shop rebuilt that carb.
Again, when you have a problem after work has been
performed, that's the first place to look.
