[Peugeot-L] Power steering leak on 86 505TD

I can tell you from experience just this weekend, better to bring down the entire steering rack and ram assembly before you attempt to reconnect new or reuse the good steel lines between the steering rack and the ram. Disconnect it from the steering shaft, disconnect the tie rods ends, remove it from the sub-frame and but keep the ram and steering rack together. I originally left the ram in place but had to bring it down to reassemble everything. Hand thread the steel tubs into the aluminum fittings of the pinion gear and ram, keep them loose and hang the unit as one then re-tighten everything before you reconnect the power steering lines from the pump. There is no way I could have safely connected everything without doing this procedure. Brain Holm recently rebuilt my 505 STI V-6 Steering rack, sent it back and this weekend I installed it. No leaks and everything works like new, thanks to some good advice and taking your time. Now my classic 1987 505 V-6 5 speed is running perfectly with 230,777 miles on the clock.
