Ownersą manual for a 1985 turbodiesel states: łunder no circumstances should the power steering pump be operated without fluid (in the event of leaks, remove power steering belt).˛ I read this after the fact, of course, but Brian Holm also confirmed the belt removal approach before I made a recent 220 mile trip, with belt removed, picking up the new pride member. (Timing of this thread is fortuitous.)
