RE: [Peugeot-L] ZDJK injectors

It actually turned out to be a 1980 STI (with a 1987 registration!!, welcome to Greece) which originally had a ZEK engine but was converted to what I now think is a ZDJK. I am an ignoramus when it comes to engines, but there are no mechanics in Greece that work on 504's or 505 so I will have to learn a few things the hard way. I copied the three numbers I got off the engine block and I am trying to confirm the type and date of manufacture. The top number is 1480964 (or the first number may be a scratch instead of a one) the number underneath that is S5190 (or the S could be an eight) and the third number at the bottom, on a small plaque is 15955. If these numbers mean anything to you please let me know.

Now I am told that the small bubbles in the oil can be water caused by a leaky head gasket rather than leaky injectors. I recall reading about a UV absorber that you add in the water and look for it in the oil, I think Garry posted it and I will see if that method will shed some light on the situation (no pun intended.) I thought a good cleaning wouldn't hurt no matter what so I took it in yesterday. The injection specialist I took the car to said that the injectors looked kind of rusty and he was afraid to take them out because the tubing is extra thin and if it breaks he wouldn't know what to replace it with. And on it goes. One the plus side the car pulls really strong, lot's of torque low down. I got a custom-made 4-2-1 stainless manifold and big bore free flow exhaust and it made a HUGE difference. It still runs out of steam at 5500 rpm's but I found an VW Golf competition specialist who knows the K-Jet really well and he said he can easily fix that, but the engine has to be in its final tune before he takes over. So I see light at the end of the Peugeotland tunnel: The 106 Rallye I running great, the 504 Coupe is at a Kugelfischer specialist's who claims he can easily fix the persisting mixture problem (I sure hope so), 504 4-door drives like a (weak) charm, and the 505 is the walking wounded and as soon as we figure out the ailment we can start the treatment. I hope the light I see in not an oncoming train..

Thanks again for all your help.

Didn't the car you got have a ZDJL motor? ZDJK injectors will be Bosch continuous flow injectors (no wires to injectors). I can get the ZEJK numbers for you if you want (ZDJK 2165 cc, ZEJK 1995cc).
Can also do the ZDJL injector numbers if you need them.

The injectors can be cleaned. If you take them out, they will have numbers on them.
