[Peugeot-L] front brake line securing clip trick

I was wondering if anyone out there has developed a trick to remove and replace the "U" shaped spring clip that secures the rubber brake line(s) to the bracket that holds the female end of the brake line in place.

The clip that I am referring to is a small slightly bent piece of metal that secures the rubber line. The solid line bolts into the rubber line and the clip secures the line.

I have used, I think they are called "dykes" to remove the clip, but they don't seem to work that well for re-installing the clip without risking a knuckle abrasion. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
