[Peugeot-L] 405 CV joints

From: Bob Bruce <bobbruce_at_mts.net>

There is guy, here in Winnipeg who rebuilds my outer CV joints for $65. New cage, oversize balls and hones the rest to fit. I have had no problems with his work over the last 5 years and 10-15 joints. He sells me boot kits for $6 ea.
I have replaced one inner boot for the 20 outers that have kacked. I think new axles from Peugeot are about $10,000 ea.

BTW. This is a great time to change the diff seals if there is any hint of leakage and the bearing on the rt axle if it more than a week old

Having said that I don't think that you should go replacing the drive   shafts on the speculation that they have been harmed by the split   boots. The price of new ones is high and the quality of rebuilds is   low so it would be worth your while to remove, clean and inspect the   CV's and then just relube and replace the boots if all looks good.

Should the need arise, I do have a NOS, right hand ddrive shaft   assembly that I could be persuaded to sell.
