A BA7-5 will fit into a 404 sedan or SW
you may need to bash some tin
when it comes to the shifters
and the 404 driveshaft splines are different size
so you would need to get the 505 splines welded onto the 404 drive shaft
I don't know about the clutch disc splines you may need a smaller diameter 505 disc
I expect you will have your work cut out for you
The 3HP22 should be less trouble with the shifter
but the flex disc you may need to manufacture
I got in lots of trouble putting a BA7-4 into a 404 SW that had been an automatic

Subject: [Peugeot-L] 404 transmission options
GlacierHey there, does anyone remember what later model transmissions fit the late (1969) model 404? I seem to remember someone writing that the overdrives don't fit the tunnel. Also, does anyone know about using a 5 on the floor manual from a 505 in an automatic 404? or should I be looking for an automatic wagon to take the tranny from. I just secured a 505 wagon diff and driveline for my 404. I realize that it will not just bolt on, and will take some work to install, but that worm drive is utterly worn out, and a hypoid rear is really attractive to me. Also, do any of the 4 lug hubs fit in place of the 3 lug on the front?
I hope there is someone who has done these upgrades who could point me in the right direction for securing parts. There are a few 505's in the Sacramento, CA picknpull and one '82 604 TD. I can't beleive what cars people are throwing away. It makes me sick. Anyway, if anyone has done these mods or have info on what fits, it would be much appreciated.
