[Peugeot-L] 505 '91 N9TEA Alternator Light Question

From: Bill Branch <billbranch_at_verizon.net>

Hello,
Last week the light came on. I drove the car with the light on for five miles (40-45 mph), suddenly the light became fainter. I took off from a stop sign, the light became faint, then bright, then went out. The person changing the alternator put a testing device on the battery which said alternator not charging. I know the alternator was not charging when the light was on, but does anyone have any ideas why the light would go out? Is that an LED? Thank you.
Bill
