If this is a gas engine, the coolant is probably going by the liner
seals (at the bottom of the cylinder liners). Head cracking does not
put coolant into the oil but rather into the combustion chamber where
it goes out the exhaust. Sometimes liner seal leaks will respond to
GM Cooling System Seal Tabs and a retorquing of the head bolts. If
not, replacing the seals involves removing the head, pan, and rod
bolts, and pushing the piston-liner assemblies out the top, then
replacing the seals.
