Cracks if they are between the valves are often not serious

Hi all,
I am new to this group, but was referred to it by another member.
I am in need of a replacement cylinder head for my 83 peugeot 505 with
the 2.0 liter XN6 engine. The previous owner sold it to me in great
shape save for one problem, the head gasket was blown. I tore into the
engine, and took the head to a machine shop to get it shaved down a
bit to make it it would be in perfect condition. However, the shop
told me that it was cracked and needed to be repaired or replaced. to
repair it would be a small fortune, so I was hoping to replace it. If
anyone has head, a complete engine, or even a complete car that would
have a head in it and they are looking to get rid of it at a
reasonable price, I would be very interested. Thanks,
