Hey Brian,

Thanks! I will definitely keep everyone posted.

My '79 4-speed gets 37-40mpg, depending on conditions. My '78 auto gets about 30mpg, but I drive it to work and it sits in traffic sometimes, goes 70mph sometimes, it has a different life from the '79. On long highway cruises at 55-60mph, it gets 33mpg.

Both cars have the XD2, naturally-aspirated 2.3. They are virtually the same as your XD2S, except the main bearing journals are smaller, the flywheel is retained by six bolts and not eight, the compression ratio is higher (23:1) and of course, the manifolds are different. I hear the XD2S should get the same if not better mileage than a good XD2.
