I agree that overheating these engines is disastrous! (Personal
experience here)
In addition to ensuring that the radiator fan is working correctly, I
suggest that installing a low water level sensor and alarm is a very
good idea. My XD2S overheated - the temperature gauge was showing low
to normal temperature - due to lack of coolant in the engine.
A cheap and easy sensor and alarm would probably have saved me some
$AU5 000 in repairs.
