[Peugeot-L] Re: 504/505 Diesel Fuel Mileage Tips

This is a great thread. Let's keep it going. One of the totally cool things I have learned is there are more diesel Peugeots in the US than any other import I have heard of. Also I would like to learn which diesel engines were used during which years. Has anybody on this list gotten the engine swap fever than I see elsewhere? Don't take this wrong I love our Peugeot, here in the mountains a four wheel drive is kind of crucial, especially is nature is going to make up for last Winters draught by dumping everything she has on us this year. Another thing I have recently learned, albeit not here, is that US diesel engine manufacturers completely blew it with diesel engines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Diesel_V6_engine I have been considering which diesel engines will fit in which transmissions. Anyone have engine spec knowledge? For instance: How much does the XN2 engine weigh? The turbo? What is the next diesel in the series called? OK I didn't mean to freak anybody out. I won't be scraping our 505 for the engine, but I may keep an eye out for a wrecked or rusted body with an engine with life left in it.
