Ken, sorry to be so late in replying, but my wireless
service is in the process of changing; and I've hardly
been able to get on the internet. The slide question I
think has already been answered, but it should move
easily enough to move with the piston force. The cutout
that you're talking about is something ATE does to
help prevent brake squeal by preloading the pad to
rotor contact in a certain way. There is a tool (that
I
have from Alfa) which is merely a template type of
guage for lining it up the right way. We always
wondered if it made any difference, but basically the
beginning of the cut-out is at the back of the piston
at approximately a 45 degree angle. So as you're
looking at the piston from the opening that you're
putting the pads in from, turn it so that the cut-out
begins at the back part of the piston so that if you
had the template, it would form about a 45 degree
angle
from the cut-out beginning to the surface where the
pad
sits. It may be a little less of an angle, but this
will not be that critical.
