[Peugeot-L] mystery 405 part

While re-organizing my garage yesterday, I ran across a small rectangular plastic box among my Peugeot parts. I vaguely recall dealing with this part many, many years ago; I believe it lives under the dash, near the steering column. "Centrale controlee temperature - 2051017" Can someone tell me what it is?
