Checklist:
-Engine off, ignition off, measure batt voltage and record.
-Engine off, ignition 'on' batt light should turn on. If it does not,
check wiring or the bulb itself.
-Start engine, voltage should go up by at least .5 volt.
-2000/2500 rpm, volt should go to around 14 volts.
-2000/2500 rpm, all accesories on, should be at least .5 volts over batt.
