i have a 1984 505 TD. not sure of the year of the engine, but it has
XD2 s-IV 81 stamped on top of it. the coolant bubbles in the resevor
and it puts out a tramendous amount of white smoke when started cold
in the morning. with the price of gas i'm now interested in fixing it
up. if the head is cracked, how much will a replacement cost. if it
just needs to be machined how much will that cost. how much is a
gasket set? should i have other work done on it when its torn apart,
if so what? it has a new radiator, its leaking brake/clutch fluid but
other than that hasn't been driven for a couple of years. the parts
are what will cost me most on this rebuild since the mechanic will
donate part of his labor. i have the big blue 3 set repair books, will
he need other books or special tools? thank you so much for any help
and info you have.
