Hi!
How do you identify BA10/4 gearboxes? For example a BA10/4 should be from an
European 604 V6 but I would need to know gear ratios. I know how to identify
differentials based on the type code stamped on them but is there something
similar that works with identifying gearboxes? I don't have a factory manual
Onfor gearboxes that would provide this information...
The gearbox in question is not mine, it belongs to another Peugeot (504)
enthusiast in Finland. He told that after removing the bellhousing there are
these markings in the end of the gearbox: "P 79 41 102551". Below that are
"78" surrounded "by lines in a circle" and "2BU". On the right (?) side of
the gearbox: "2BT".
That 78 means probably the year of manufacture, right?
I've already read Dave McBean's great 505 web site
(http://www.geocities.com/davemcbean/fiveohsindex.html) and its transmission
information. It lists only:
BA10 4 speed (early 604 and 504 V6 Coupe)
1st 3.46:1
2nd 2.06:1
3rd 1.41:1
4th 1:1
I don't know if there are 4 speed BA10's with different ratios available?
That's why I would like to see some identifying information directly from a
workshop manual etc.
And if someone has the same information for BA10/5 and BA7/5, that's would
be nice too. ;-)
