Re: [Peugeot-L] 1987 505 Turbo Doesn't

If it does in fact have a faulty wastegate actuator, the overboost switch *should* kick in, if this happened, you'd know it. It cut's fuel so it would be a solid jolt.. If the overboost switch isn't working correctly you would hear a ton of detonating.. either of the options suggested above are worse case.

there's a little yellow LED on the bottom of the instrument cluster, did you notice if that came on when you had the key in the 'ON' position, or while you were driving at all?

If that light comes while you're driving the car, it means it's thrown a code, and could possibly be retarding ignition timing waay back which would cause a HUGE loss in power.

I'd suggest making sure the detonation / engine code light is in fact functioning, and if you could, hook up a boost gauge to see whats going on while driving. have you checked ignition timing already?

if there is in fact a problem with the wastegate, and its been overboosting for god know's how long, i'd pass on the car.

let us know how it goes!
