Re: [Peugeot-L] N9TE timing chain tension lock

the tensioner is ratcheting, so when you push it in, and turn it counter clockwise it should lock it in position. the first counter clockwise click should release the tensioner, though i've just kept turning it counter clockwise until it was fully released (usually less then 1/2 a turn if i remember right).

if it spins freely its probably a bad sign..

As I got the head on and tried to unlock the tensioner, I have apparently fouled up. One has to proceed by feel because once the screwdriver is in place, you can't see anything. I turned the screw back counter-clockwise and nothing happened. It didn't feel like it was doing anything but with a mirror it looked and felt like the screw turned. If it was important to have it in the same position as when I locked the tensioner, it is not now. Is the screw supposed to pop out a ways when the tensioner is unlocked. Anyone have some advice on what I should be looking for. Will the screw come out if it is turned too far or is it retained? Thanks. Rulon Pope
